GlobalConnect invests in AI: Initiates partnership with Oslo University and launches Center of Excellence

GlobalConnect has entered an exclusive partnership with Oslo University's AI program and is simultaneously launching a new Center of Excellence to enhance the company’s competence and use of AI, advanced data analytics, and master data management. The goal is clear: to position GlobalConnect as a leading force in technology development and innovation by creating powerful tools that promote better decision-making and more efficient operations.

As a first step, around 40 potential AI use cases have been identified, and five of these will be selected for an initial proof-of-concept phase. "We want to see tangible results that demonstrate how these AI projects can impact our business, and these early tests will help us fine-tune our long-term AI strategy," explains GlobalConnect CEO Martin Lippert.

Academic collaborations pave the way for the future
One of the key pillars of GlobalConnect’s AI initiative is the newly established collaboration with Oslo University. Through a three-year agreement, master's students from the university's renowned AI program will participate in the company's AI projects. "Oslo University has a very interesting program dedicated to AI. This partnership allows us to access the latest knowledge directly from academia," says Lippert.

The strategic collaboration with academic institutions strengthens GlobalConnect's AI development and bridges the gap between research and application. In addition to Oslo University, GlobalConnect is also a member of AI Sweden, one of Europe's leading AI research centers. Through this, the company hopes to maintain its innovation leadership in AI and continue contributing to technological development in the region.

Experienced AI leader takes the helm
To lead the new AI initiative, GlobalConnect has recruited Anders Arpteg as the head of the Center of Excellence. Anders, with over 20 years of experience in AI and data analytics, most recently served as head of data science and AI at the Swedish Security Service and has previously led AI initiatives at tech giants such as Spotify and Peltarion.

"We are thrilled that Anders is taking on this challenge. His deep understanding of both the technical and business aspects of AI will be invaluable for our continued growth," says Martin Lippert.

Anders Arpteg will begin his role on September 23, 2024, and looks forward to driving GlobalConnect's AI initiatives forward. "I’m really excited to lead this initiative and work with our team to create solutions that not only optimize our internal processes but also strengthen our customers' businesses," says Arpteg.

A step toward the connected society of the future
With its AI initiative and the establishment of the Center of Excellence, GlobalConnect marks its ambition to become a leading force in technology development and innovation. By harnessing AI and advanced data analytics, the company aims not only to improve its services but also to contribute to a more efficient and connected society. GlobalConnect’s Center of Excellence will officially launch on October 1, 2024.
