Press release -
GlobalConnect has signed an agreement to divest its B2C business in Norway to Telenor
Telenor will acquire the B2C part of GlobalConnect's operations in Norway, which currently serves approximately 140.000 B2C customers. GlobalConnect will continue all other operations in Norway.
GlobalConnect has signed an agreement to divest its Norwegian B2C business to Telenor. The agreement covers GlobalConnect’s B2C fiber infrastructure and approximately 140.000 customer relationships. GlobalConnect’s Norwegian B2C organisation will also be transferred.
“GlobalConnect’s B2C business in Norway is powered by a highly skilled and dedicated team, having successfully proven consistent growth over many years. As GlobalConnect is focusing our B2C business in the Nordics into a pure wholesale provider, it has been a natural next step to divest B2C Norway. We are confident that Telenor will take good care of our B2C customers and employees going forward,” says Martin Lippert, CEO of GlobalConnect.
“The current state of our B2C business in Norway is the outcome of targeted organic growth over the past 10 years unlocked by a strong culture, data driven roll out machinery and a unique value proposition. We’re proud of the contribution we’ve made to expanding fibre access and helping bring high-speed connectivity to citizens and communities in Norway. We’re also truly grateful for the trust our customers have placed in us. As we are now preparing to take the next step through this process, our focus remains on delivering reliable services and continuing to support their needs,“ says Charlotta Rehman, EVP B2C at GlobalConnect.
“This marks a strategic step forward – for our customers and for Telenor. By integrating the consumer part of GlobalConnect’s fibre network into our own, we will extend our reliable and high-performing services to even more households across the country,” says Benedicte Schilbred Fasmer, President & CEO of Telenor.
Norway remains a strategic priority in the B2B and carrier market
“Our ambition for challenging the Norwegian B2B and carrier market is unchanged. We see significant potential ahead, and a large demand for secure and large-scale connectivity. We will continue to invest substantially in our expansion and market presence as well as strengthening our position as the digital gateway to the Nordics serving global enterprises and tech companies with mission-critical needs,” says Martin Lippert.
The transaction awaits final approval from the competition authorities.
